Michelle Kirby
Exploration of sine and cosine functions. As a nature lover, and science enthusiast, I became curious about patterns of growth. After reading the Power of Limits: Proportional Harmonies in Nature, Art, and Architecture by Gyorgy Doczi, I became fascinated by laws of concentric and proportional growth. The frequencies that drive this growth have been defined mathematically by the sine and cosine wave functions: deceptively simple functions undulating around a middle. In code, everything is ones and zeroes and in nature everything is frequencies. I wanted to play with this simple concept and see what results would happen from recombinant use of these two functions. The possibilities are turned out to be beautiful and endless.
